Applications must be submitted by February 28, 2027. The full new regulatory regime takes effect October 25, 2027, giving the FCA time to review the thousands of expected submissions.
The FCA approved only 35 of 273 applicants under its previous crypto register. Binance must build a genuine UK presence and satisfy strict governance, financial, and 'fit and proper' standards.
To meet FCA requirements, Binance is expected to establish a dedicated UK board and headquarters presence. Simply filing an application is not a path to approval without structural changes.
If approved, Binance could offer regulated crypto services to UK residents again: deposits, trading, and custody. UK users would gain access to one of the world's largest crypto exchanges after years of being locked out.
The FCA will take months to process applications. Results may not be clear until mid-to-late 2027. Other exchanges are also applying, so Binance faces competition for approval alongside other industry players.
